OK, this will be my first-ever and last-ever Michael Jackson post. But, celebrity aside, here is a rare opportunity to get an inside look at a grand jury proceeding. The always-digging folks at The Smoking Gun have posted what they say is the entire 1,903-page transcript of the grand jury proceedings that resulted in the indictment of Michael Jackson on molestation and conspiracy charges. The transcript had been sealed by Santa Barbara County Superior Court Judge Rodney S. Melville.

The Los Angeles Times reports that it and the New York Times were among media outlets that decided not to run accounts of the purported grand jury testimony today, because they could not confirm that the transcript matched that on file in Santa Barbara County Superior Court. Nonetheless, the LA Times conceded that The Smoking Gun “appeared, once again, to have scooped the nation’s biggest media outlets.”
