In my own consulting work with law firms, I often encourage them to create materials that highlight the real people who make up the firm and its clients — a description of a day in the life of an associate, a testimonial direct from a client, a bio that provides insight into the lawyer. I try to help them do this through the written word. Now, a company is helping law firms do this through sight and sound.

Visit the lawyer recruiting pages of the Goulston & Storrs Web site, and you find the page Personally Speaking. Click the link, and up comes a video featuring actual associates discussing their experiences at the firm. On the home page of the firm Posternak Blankstein & Lund, you find the question, “What’s it like when your law firm is the perfect match for your business?” Click the link that says, “Ask our clients,” and up comes a video featuring interviews with actual clients of the firm.

These videos were produced by the Wellesley, Mass., consulting firm Legal Insight Media, which yesterday formally unveiled its TrueView Web videos. The company’s co-founder, Peter Marx, is a former partner at Goulston & Storrs, former GC of Interactive Data Corporation, and co-founder and former chair of the New England Corporate Counsel Association. The firm has also created videos for Day, Berry & Howard about its women’s initiative and for Holland & Knight about its pro bono program.
