Ever wonder whether a Twitter feed is really from the government body or official it claims to be? There is certainly reason to doubt sometimes, given the frequency of fake and spoof social-media accounts.
To help clear up any doubt, the U.S. government has a web page that lets you verify whether a social media account is really managed by the U.S. government. Part of USA.gov, the site lets you look up accounts managed by federal agencies, elected officials, heads of agencies and members of the president’s Cabinet.
Just paste in the URL of the account. If it is legitimate, a message pops up verifying that.
