Rocket Matter, a company known for its cloud-based law practice management platform, is blasting off into an entirely new direction. Today, it is announcing the launch of Rocket X1, an Internet-marketing service for law firms that combines a website and blogging platform with consulting services covering content creation, search engine marketing, public relations and social media.

rocketX1-transparent-bgThe product is designed to propel law firms rapidly from zero marketing to “a full-blown Internet marketing machine,” Larry Port, Rocket Matter CEO, told me yesterday. His goal is for law firms to begin to see measurable results within 90 days by helping them build more traffic and convert that traffic to leads.

To accomplish this, Rocket X1 will provide firms with a tw0-phase implementation. The first phase, which it is calling “Launch,” entails the build-out of a website and blog, the build out of social media and email marketing channels, editorial and copywriting guidance, SEO analysis, and drafting and distribution of an initial press release.

By the end of that first phase — targeted to be around 90 days — Rocket X1 clients will be slated to have produced a whitepaper or ebook that they can use to help generate new leads.

In the second phase, “Orbit,” Rocket X1 will provide ongoing guidance and strategy. Rocket X1 staff will regularly meet with firms to review analytics, brainstorm blog posts, provide direction on social media, and help create additional ebooks or other publications.

Rocket X1 will sell its package as a one-year contract at a cost of $3,000-$5,000 a month. This price is comparable to what other vendors might charge for just one component of this package, Port says, but here clients get a website, a blog, SEO optimization, PR, graphic design, strategic consulting and more in a single package.

Rocket X1 customers will be required to host their websites and blogs on Rocket X1’s platform, which will be optimized for SEO and its proprietary analytics. Rocket X1 will design the site, create a blog (using WordPress as the platform), build out social media profiles, and provide coaching on how to use these various tools.

Port said that Rocket X1 is launching in a beta phase and will limit the number of law firms it will take on during the remainder of 2013.

So why would a developer of practice-management software launch a marketing business? Rocket Matter started as a bootstrap company without major outside investors, Port explains. He and his staff became experts at marketing themselves and, along the way, became experts at Internet marketing. On top of that, he says, they understand how law firms work and they understand the ethics of legal marketing. It seemed natural to offer their expertise as a service to law firms that are having trouble with Internet marketing.

Rocket Matter is announcing Rocket X1 today and will be demonstrating it later this week at ABA Techshow in Chicago.
