Seems kind of crazy that I’ve been doing this blog for 12 years. But here’s the evidence, my first post, on Nov. 19, 2002: Welcome to my blog.

Why do I keep doing it after a dozen years? It’s fun. It keeps me on my toes. It’s helped me make some very good friends and meet many interesting people. And every so often I get a scoop, which makes the former newspaper reporter in me very happy.

I am thankful to all of you who bother to read this. I know for a fact there are a couple of you who’ve followed this blog, on and off, from the start. Even if you’re a brand-new reader, I appreciate it.

Some say blogging is dead. To me, it feels more alive than ever. Here’s to another 12 years — or at least another one or two.
