Techshow Recap: Not Your Granddaddy’s Legal Tech Conference

Clio CEO Jack Newton introduces the Techshow keynote with the CEOs of Avvo, Rocket Lawyer and LegalZoom.

After 31 years, ABA Techshow is the granddaddy of legal technology conferences. That can be both a blessing and a curse. Amid a surge of legal-tech-conference upstarts, the challenge for Techshow is not merely to stay relevant, but to continue to push the envelope of what a legal tech conference can and should be.

Having just returned from this year’s Techshow, I can report that it was a success on all fronts. New programming, new speakers and new features fueled a high level of energy and helped create an atmosphere that felt as fresh and energetic as at any contemporary conference.

My full post-mortem is the subject of my column this week at Above the Law: ABA TECHSHOW Post-Mortem: Not Your Granddaddy’s Legal Tech Conference. I hope you’ll read it and, if you were there, let me know if you agree.

This was my first TECHSHOW experience, so I can’t comment on how this year compared to years past. I can say that it was a delightful week filled with great attendees, exhibitors, and discussions, and we will definitely be back. I would also like to add that the conference organizers did a fantastic job coordinating.
