Nearly 70 percent of consumers plan to give gift cards this holiday season, the American Bar Association says. That is why it has added a page of gift card consumer tips to its consumer legal information site, ABA LawInfo.org. The page explains hidden fees that may reduce the value of a gift card month-by-month until it bottoms out at zero, points out the potential for expiration dates, notes differences between “national” and “store” gift cards, and offers tips for both gift card buyers and recipients to help maximize card value.
