The chief justice of Rhode Island’s Supreme Court has pulled his personal Web site. Frank J. Williams says the site generated unnecessary public attention. He says he launched it earlier this month to deal with speaking requests, not to generate publicity.

Bruce Green, a legal ethics professor at Fordham University in New York, told the Providence Journal that he found the site troubling for “the soliciting of paid speaking engagements. It looks like he’s using his official position to solicit business as a speaker.”
