Last year, I wrote about a partnership between legal publisher Wolters Kluwer Legal & Regulatory U.S. and IP docketing company Alt Legal which enabled Alt Legal customers to have one-click access to WK Trademark Navigator from within their docketing workflows and WK customers to have one-click access to their dockets in Alt Legal.

Today, the two companies are extending that integration to Kluwer IP Law’s Manual of Industrial Property (MIP) — often called the Brown Book — an authoritative source on the procedures and laws for filing patent, trademark and design applications in more than 230 jurisdictions around the world.

As with the prior integration, this new integration will give WK customers one-click access to relevant MIP content from within Alt Legal, including some 36,000 cases and 100 books (see image above). Likewise, Brown Book subscribers will have one-click access to their docketing records within Alt Legal.

From within the Brown Book, click Manage Your Docket to access Alt Legal.

Nehal Madhani, CEO and founder of Alt Legal, told me that as his company has grown, it has acquired an increasing number of large clients with global IP portfolios. While his platform has had many of the tools they needed to manage those global portfolios, it lacked the content to help customers understand specific legal requirements.

A Kluwer Law IP customer’s home page will include a direct link to Alt Legal.

“Given the global nature of IP prosecution, we are pleased to combine our IP docketing software with industry-leading content from Wolters Kluwer,” he said.

Another feature of the integration is that it allows Kluwer IP Law users to directly access docketed trademarks for a specific country within Alt Legal. It also allows Alt Legal users to directly access Kluwer IP Law content for a specific country while viewing trademarks for that jurisdiction.

For customers to take advantage of this integration, they will need subscriptions to both Kluwer IP Law and Alt Legal.
