The legal technology company Aderant, which provides business and practice management software for larger law firms, has acquired Bellefield Systems, developer of the cloud-based mobile-friendly timekeeping product iTimekeep, which runs on Microsoft Azure, and its related product OCG Live, which works with iTimekeep to enforce compliance with outside counsel guidelines at the point of time entry.

Aderant says the acquisition reflects its continuing commitment to cloud solutions for law firms and to the growing market for compliance with outside counsel guidelines. The acquisition also expands Aderant’s ability to support law firms regardless of the practice management application they use.

“Aderant’s mission is to help law firms excel and improve people’s lives through technology,” Aderant CEO Deane S. Price said in a statement announcing the deal. “The acquisition of Bellefield is another step in enhancing the lawyer experience and realizing our mission. It’s about bringing a best-in-class solution to end users, while solving their numerous compliance challenges. We are excited to have the number one mobile time application as part of the Aderant family.”

Gabriela Isturiz, cofounder and CEO of Bellefield, said, “When we founded Bellefield in 2012, we had a specific purpose: to help firms achieve a faster path to revenue through better timekeeping and compliance. We’re thrilled to join forces with Aderant to continue to deliver on that vision. With shared values, we will continue to provide our clients with the innovations, experience and results to which they have grown accustomed.”

Legal IT Insider has more from Deane Price, who tells editor Caroline Hill that iTimekeep and OCG Live will now be offered as part of Aderant’s suite of products. Aderant will continue to develop and support its Expert Time product as an on-premises offering for firms.

In 2017, Aderant acquired Handshake Software, a company that sold SharePoint-based software to law firms for portals, knowledge management, enterprise search and mobility.
