Two legal tech companies today postponed conferences they had scheduled for this month, due to concerns over the spread of coronavirus.
The trademark technology company Alt Legal cancelled Alt Legal Connect 2020, a trademark law conference which was scheduled for March 22-24 in Brooklyn, N.Y. It was to have been Alt Legal’s first conference.
In a blog post announcing the news, Alt Legal said it will reschedule the conference to later this year and is working with the hotel and vendors to find a new date.
“Given the recent spread of the virus in New York and the declaration of the state of emergency here, we’ve decided that rescheduling the conference is the right thing to do for the health and well-being of all Connect 2020 attendees,” the blog post said.
The company said its plan is to reschedule the conference with six months. Anyone who has already bought a ticket can use it at the rescheduled event or request a refund, the company said.
“This is disappointing, yet our top priority is the comfort and safety of our community, employees, family and friends,” the company said on Twitter. “We are working to reschedule Apex within six months of March 2020 and look forward to hosting you.”
