Stephen Allen, head of innovation and digital at the law firm Hogan Lovells, is moving July 1 to law company Elevate, where he will take on one of the best job titles ever: Vice President, Enterprise Solutions and Get Sh*t Done.

Allen was the inaugural recipient last year of the “Law Firm Legal Intrapreneur” Financial Times Innovative Lawyers Europe Award, and he was the architect of the Hogan Lovells’ AI-based LIBOR solution, which won the Financial Times “Innovation in Collaboration” North America Award.

At Elevate, Allen will be responsible for consulting, enterprise solutions, strategic pricing, and account management, the company said. He will be a member of Elevate’s executive leadership team, reporting directly to Liam Brown, Elevate’s chairman and CEO.

“Stephen will help us integrate our many consulting, technology, and service offerings to deliver expert-led, multi-disciplinary ‘Jobs To Be Done’ solutions to address the business of law problems that law departments and law firms face,” Brown said in a statement.

At Hogan Lovells, Allen was responsible for innovation, data science, legal tech — including AI, machine learning and automation — digitalization, and disruption. He joined the firm in 2016 as its global head of legal operations.

Previously, he ran PwC’s legal market advisory practice, where he advised and delivered change programs for law departments and law firms. Earlier in his career, Stephen worked as a lawyer both in private practice and in-house, before crossing the boardroom to become managing director of two divisions of Orange-France Télécom in the UK and Continental Europe.

“Legal services are evolving at a quicker pace than ever, and the future is speaking to those who pay attention,” Allen said in a statement. “Elevate is listening and responding to what the future is telling us.

“My time at Hogan Lovells has been the best of my career. However, this role at Elevate is irresistible. It is a unique opportunity to assemble the Elevate experts, tools, and services to design solutions that truly address the problems that legal professionals face.”
