New service tracks corporate affiliations

LexisNexis last week launched a new service that might be considered a genealogy site for the business world. Much as genealogy sites trace family trees, Corporate Affiliations charts corporate ties. It shows linkages among nearly 200,000 major companies and their affiliates, subsidiaries and divisions, to the seventh level of corporate linkage. It includes most major public companies as well as private companies with revenues in excess of $10 million. You can search for free and obtain a list of matching companies and basic information about each, but full reports cost anywhere from $10 to several hundred dollars.
