Lawyers Slow to Adopt Technology

That is not my conclusion, but the premise of writer Denise Magnell’s piece, Legal Industry Slowly Lifts the Bar to Tech Adoption, published in the Boston Business Journal. In fact, I told Denise, and she quotes me as saying, that the legal profession, overall, was ahead of other professions in using technology. Here is how she quotes me in the story:

“Overall, the legal profession has been innovative in its use of technology, but I think what has driven that use are the smaller firms having to make do with smaller budgets and fewer resources. Technology has really leveled the playing field for many smaller firms.”

David Furey, CIO at Bingham McCutchen in Boston, sounds a similar note. Although lawyers are perceived to be slow adopters of technology, he said, “in fact, we have been early adopters where it makes sense in the legal profession.”
