Here are some of the other legal tech stories from the week:

Case Status raises $3.5 million. Case Status, a mobile client portal and messaging platform for law firms, raised $3.5 million in a Series A venture capital funding round led by Meeting Street Capital, Panoramic Ventures, VentureSouth, CreativeCo, and others.

I had previously reported on the startup’s raise of $1.5 million in seed funding in 2020 and its venture capital funding in 2019.

The company was cofounded in 2017 by lawyer Lauren Sturdivant, who later returned to law practice but remains chairman of the board, and Andy Seavers, who was its CTO before becoming CEO after Sturdivant’s departure.

FileTrail acquires Teravine. In a union of two leading information governance companies, FileTrail, which provides information governance and records management software for law firms and highly regulated industries, acquired Teravine, a company that specializes in information governance software as a service, primarily for large law firms in the United States.

FileTrail said it will integrate the Teravine Provident software with its governance policy suite of offerings. By combining the two, FileTrail expands its capabilities to provide a complete end-to-end software solution that improves compliance with internal IG policies, outside counsel guidelines and governmental regulations, it said.

Once the Teravine technology is fully integrated with FileTrail’s governance product, the company said, it expects to use its architecture as a springboard for future development, including artificial intelligence and natural language processing solutions for IG.

Teravine’s former CEO, Wes Baldwin, will join FileTrail in the newly created role of chief technology officer and will oversee further development of the platform.

Brightflag adds Legal Service Requests module. Brightflag, a platform for legal operations and legal spend management, launched a Legal Service Requests module, which it says offers corporate legal departments a powerful way to centralize intake, triage requests, and understand demand for legal services across the business.

The module includes a customizable web-based intake form intended to make it easy for those within a company to submit requests. From the form, legal departments can convert accepted requests into legal matters, define priority levels, and assign next steps.

In addition to processing requests, the module provides various reports to help departments better understand trends regarding requests. These reports include: requests by type, requests by business unit, requests by business region, average response time and average resolution time.

The module is an integrated part of the Brightflag Legal Operations Platform and is available immediately to all customers at no additional cost through March 2022.
